Thursday talk

Draw from the experienced
1. Some are asking why the party elder, who has a proven track record in managing crises of the kind now being experienced, has not been consulted or his services retained to help see the economy through its present downturn. They say the national unity being called for must begin within their own ranks, before others can be invited to participate in any such movement.
Poor parties!
2. Some say both parties are out of pocket and, therefore, cannot afford to fund either a by-election or general elections, hence the accommodation.
Cut from a different cloth
3. The fear is that Peter Principle will kick into being, as the one being touted is clearly cut from a different cloth. The new role demands an implementer and proactive interventionist thinking and hands-on management. The other role called for analysis and strategising. The question bothering most, though, is not one about personnel, but what is the plan for growth and economic expansion?
Turks at the ready
4. Seems like the young Turks are readying their forces for standby or the long-expected putsch as confidence wanes. Some seem to think the time to move is not too far away.
State visit, take two!
5. And there is talk that the head of state who recently cancelled a high-profile visit might be heading to our shores to address or be a special guest at another function! The thinking here is that the head of state thinks the organisation he is supposed to address is more in keeping with his own political ideology and philosophies than those who invited him earlier!
Kitty raided again?
6. Industry insiders are again asking where did the funding come from this time around to pay for the high-flyers to the big event. They want to know if the kitty housing the special funds was raided yet again.
Slow on the uptake
7. Party insiders are fearful that the lesson that took the JLP 18 years to learn - a house divided cannot win general elections - some within their own ranks are yet to fully understand. This, they say, is the main reason for the constant attempts to undermine their leader.
She's a working woman now!
8. Yet another mistress has found official employment!
Cash only
9. Seems times are harder than anyone cares to admit. Some manager's cheques are not legal tender in some establishments and, when presented, are politely declined. Those tendering them are advised that cash is the preferred payment when dealing with that institution.
