Because I am committed to the Fire Brigade
Saving lives is our creed
Due to exigency of service
I am bound at station be.
Waiting and bracing trying to be calm
Controlling my ego
Each time the phone toll
Anticipating what emergency may lie in store
I have to make my crew be reassured
But I won't be at Calabash!
And that is for sure.
I heard of Calabash in the news
How fascinating the poets are, even as they mused
Fervent lyrics igniting Jake's Caf
My fellow St Bess firefighters are at bay
Oh yes, Calabash
Is the Laureate's delight
"Hot line" Barbara, Third World's Ibo Cooper
The best of both Beverley
Wooing the crowd
East reading hand writings
While Manley her memoir, reciting.
Oh, how I wish I was at Calabash
But I know when
Reggae icon, Wayne Armond
Played and welcome everyone
That's its good to (t)here.
While the poet's 'Dangerous disturbances'
Create quite a stir.

The Children of Destiny Creed
I am destined for greatness
I will not ask what my country
Can do for me
(Rather) I will ask what I can do
for my country
I am a nation builder and a world changer
I am born to lead.
God has a plan and a purpose for my life
which I will fulfil.
I will become all that God has intended for
me to be.
(For) I am fearfully and wonderfully
made to serve the purpose of God in my
generation.
I am a child of destiny.
