T&T: Pupils pulled from school
published: Friday | September 15, 2006

Port-Of-Spain, (Trinidad Express):

Fed-up parents Wednesday pulled their children from a school because of a shortage of teachers.

Since the term began last week, there have been only three teachers at the Holy Trinity Anglican Primary School in Grand Chemin, Moruga.

The requirement for the school, which has 200 children on roll, is seven teachers.

Godfrey Lee Sing, president of the Grand Chemin Community Council, said there had been a shortage of teachers at the school since last term.

"The situation has grown worse with only three teachers turning up for the new term," he said.

Lee Sing said the school's acting principal, Dawn Paul, has been teaching a class. Paul declined comment Tuesday when the Express contacted her.
