Charles Johnston, executive chairman of Jamaica Freight and Shipping Ltd., and a past president of the SAJ, was instrumental in garnering the support of the shipping fraternity last year for the inaugural Shipping Industry/KSAFA Under-15 Tournament. This is the second year that Jamaica's shipping industry is sponsoring the competition to the tune of half a million dollars that covers prize money, referee fees, administrative costs, trophies and awards.
The winning team will get $80,000 and the Winston Chung-Fah Trophy, in honour of the gentleman affectionately known as 'Chungie', who has dedicated his life to the development of local football.
Sponsors of the Shipping Industry/KSAFA Under-15 Competition for the Winston Chung-Fah Trophy are: The Shipping Association of Jamaica, Jamaica Fruit & Shipping, Seaboard Freight & Shipping, Kingston Wharves Ltd., Maritime & Transport Ltd., and Port Contractors Limited.
Commenting on the Shipping Industry's continued support for the under-15 competition, SAJ president, Michael Bernard said: "We see sport as an important vehicle for instilling in our youth positive values of discipline and teamwork and a healthy lifestyle."
