Henry-Wilson, time to bat

THE EDITOR, Sir:
"COME MAXINE, it's your time, bat well." Like a cricket match at the fall of a wicket comes another batsman/woman. After the cement saga, now comes the GSAT controversy over what many would call the mismanagement of Mrs. Henry-Wilson's education ministry. The recent release of the exam results, after six weeks of delay, has not been without upsets, misplacement and even probe by her boss. The installation of compact discs for security reasons and random placement is one of the reasons being promoted for the delay in results, as well as availability of school spaces for the awardees.
Now Maxine, didn't you see this coming from the registration of candidates, or were you hoping that not so many would do so well in the exam? It is your responsibility and obligation to see the facts and advise the public accordingly from early or your prime minister. Even though you have accepted the blame, you can still use this opportunity to improve the standards of the non-traditional high schools.
This report to Parliament, on Tuesday, July 4, still doesn't excuse you from your poor handling of the situation, not to mention the burden you have put on your Prime Minister again to face another crisis and public embarrassment. Your speech in Parliament will not heal the woes of many parents and students alike who feel that once again, they have been cheated out with this education system. Mrs. Wilson, you underestimated the students' capabilities, once again.
I am, etc.,
DAVID CAMPBELL
